Batulao Trek: Gear Check & Field Preps
We had to get out of the concrete jungle, field test some new & existing gear, and have some plain, good old-fashioned FUN!
There was a little rain in Alabang (our rally point) on the morning of departure but it quickly dissipated. After a long round-about route circling the Batangas province, the weather cleared to partly cloudy. By the time we hit the trail it was just overcast and cool.
We were able to field test the Big Blades (Tramontina machetes) and the Bahco pruning saw. They all got extensive "dirt time" and passed with flying colors!
For the "gear check", Loco E did some waterproofing treatment on some backpack rain covers, hats, boots, and misc items. Unfortunately, there was no rain during the trek and overnight campout
